Rotation support: I've already found out how handy this is!Īll the above is strictly regarding playing with the app for the sake of playing with the app. People wouldn't have to buy amps they don't want, but still get a good deal on all those they do. That might cut down on the "Ampkit is great, but expensive" talk. After all, some weirdos might want two chocolate shakes! Or me, who likes the 900, Vox, Classic 30, Twin and 6505. The purchase bundles are very good and help those of us who want to have a lot of gear, a very good move! A pick-your-own combo kit, ala Arby's 5 for $5.95 would be a great addition here. I like to try out all the different presets, as it is the easiest way to get a feel for a piece of gear, but doing that creates tedious deleting later. Though it is still frustrating after going through a few presets and tweaking them to your liking, you are forced to delete dozens of "copy of" presets. On Ampkit, the favorite-star is a very nice idea, and helps you find your favorite presets, or find your main sounds aside for any crazy, wacky ones you might have used. With Ampkit it's easier to see what kind of sound you're getting since you can see what gear you're using. Amplitube's presets might make it more at home in a performing environment. Preset management is pretty good for either is a tossup. Heck, throw the 10 band eq after an amp and it's even MORE tweak-able! The only downside to tweak-ability is sometimes it takes a little while to get your perfect sound, but I'd much rather spend a little time with my sounds than be stuck with something. Again, Ampkit shines in the choices of gear, and that Ampkit actually does hi gain well! The option to do post-amp effects is fantastic as well, and is essential for hi gain rock. I seriously love the mic and mic placement options! The combinations are numerous, and for the true tweaker, this feature is essential! Also, the number of amps are fantastic. What is so great about it, is I can take a preset that I like but might find a little harsh, change the cabinet, change the mic, or even just the mic placement and have a ton of great sound options. Tone and tweak-ability: For me, Ampkit is far and away the winner! All in all, the sounds are better than Amplitube, and I feel like I'm listening to an amp, not a recording of an amp. Here are a few thoughts, semi-randomly regarding Ampkit's new release: Well, got to tweak with both Amplitube 2 and the the new Ampkit+ 1.1.
